Expositions & World’s Fairs:
In the United States
The Branding of America
Before social media and the internet, expositions electrified the world with education and excitement. Between 1853 and 1984, over 320 million people attended World’s Fairs in the United States. They were places to see, and to be seen.
These Fairs were entertainment meccas and cultural phenomena. They created jobs, showcased different cultures, and altered the way people thought. Businesses sold products. Local companies made money. Entrepreneurs displayed inventions. Corporations built brands.
